9th BioSC Spotlight: The Bioeconomy of Wood

On 5 March 2024, from 9:30 to 16:00 CET, join the BioSC Spotlight event focused on highlighting approaches and insights into the use of wood in the bioeconomy. Hear from experts in the field,  scientists from the BioSC and external experts, as they discuss the current developments of wood-based value chains.

The agenda includes raw materials and processing, such as bio-based polymers from lignocellulosic biomass, and innovative products in construction, textile and paper production. Registration for the event is now open, grab your ticket by 19 February 2024 here.

The event is organised by the Bioeconomy Science Centre and will take place at the NGP2-Center for Next Generation Processes and Products, Forckenbeckstr. 51, Aachen, Germany.

Timber Expo 2023

Timber Expo 2023 will be the 11th edition of the event, which has been co-located with UK Construction Week since 2015. UK Construction Week is a multi award-winner of the UK Trade Show and is the UK’s leading trade event for the industry, attracting 25,000 visitors.

Timber Expo will bring together award-winning architects, clients and contractors to showcase all that timber has to offer. Supported by Timber Development UK, it is the UK’s largest showcase event for wood and timber in construction, covering structural timber frames, sawmills, merchants, glulam, SIPs, CLT, fixings and fastenings, timber cladding, doors and windows, mouldings, skirtings and flooring products.

WOOD 2023

The Wood fair brings together companies and professionals from the entire industry in Jyväskylä, Finland, again from 6 to 8 September 2023. The event, which has been a flag bearer in the wood industry for more than 30 years, focuses on woodworking technology, the carpentry industry and woodworking technology. Award for the project “Building with wood” – development of a model and competence region in South Westphalia

On December 7, 2022, the REGIONALE 25 project “Building with wood” – development of a model and competence region in South Westphalia, has been awarded with the second star. The project is an important part of the efforts of South Westphalia to develop sustainable and complementary projects to anchor resource-saving construction in the region.

The project is aimed at forest owners, the wood processing industry, companies in the wood construction and carpentry trades as well as planners, private and public builders. From the headquarters of Zentrum HOLZ in Olsberg, Germany, they are to be brought together in a network to share knowledge about new technologies and innovations in timber construction and to build up expertise. And at the same time, to initiate and make visible good examples in South Westphalia. This applies to the use of wood in industrial and commercial buildings as well as in public and private buildings.
