Strong by Form

Strong by Form develops Woodflow, a biomimetic, digitally-designed timber composite replacing steel, concrete, plastics via strategic partnerships, phased financing, deep-tech planning.

Strong by Form is a deep-tech company developing Woodflow, a high-performance timber composite that combines biomimicry, digital design, and automated manufacturing to replace carbon-intensive materials such as concrete, steel, and reinforced plastics. Their mission is to decarbonise the built environment through scalable, circular, and structurally optimised wood-based solutions.

Scaling Woodflow required identifying a clear product-market fit, capturing a sizable market opportunity, and generating early revenue. However, operating within the construction and mobility sectors introduces additional layers of complexity: long deployment cycles, capital-intensive manufacturing, and a significantly higher technology risk compared to pure software ventures.

These realities have compelled Strong by Form to develop a synchronised technology roadmap, product strategy, and financing plan that enables them to raise funding while continuously advancing their core technology.

Support from strategic investors and partners has been essential in this journey. Forest-sector companies have contributed infrastructure, market access, and domain knowledge – validating Woodflow’s relevance and reinforcing investor confidence. Having the world’s largest construction company as a backer signals strong market demand. At the same time, partnerships with forward-looking clients like BMW and Deutsche Bahn demonstrate that industry leaders are willing to pioneer low-carbon, wood-based alternatives.

It is often difficult for traditional venture capital to fund deep-tech companies. Therefore, Strong by Form has found alignment with strategic and impact-driven investors who are more patient and willing to accept risk, motivated by long-term vision or mission alignment. Financial investors bring the speed and discipline needed to scale, while strategic ones validate the technology and enable market entry.

Strong by Form’s ability to scale has been made possible by combining strategic collaborations, private capital, and public funding mechanisms. This collective support has enabled them to move from R&D into full-scale prototyping, setting the stage for broader industrial deployment.
