Peter Wehrheim is Head of Unit for Bioeconomy & Food Systems in DG Research and Innovation, at the European Commission. Peter joined the Cabinet of Commissioner Hogan in February 2018. Between 2010 and 2018 he worked as Head of Unit in DG CLIMA. His portfolio included climate finance, deforestation and agriculture. Peter started to work for the European Commission in 2004 and was first affiliated with DG AGRI. Prior to that, he was a Heisenberg-Fellow of the German Research Foundation. In 2001/2002 he was temporary Professor at the Institute for Economic and Agricultural Policy/University of Bonn. In 2001 he received a Doctor degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn.
