Nature2Bond
Nature2Bond: Bio-based sustainable adhesive system
The Nature2Bond project has developed an innovative method to produce 100% bio-based, sustainable, and non-toxic bio-glues. These bio-glues have the potential to replace fossil-based adhesives, such as those containing formaldehyde, in the production of engineered wood panels. This method aligns with European Union requirements for eco-friendly products throughout their life cycle, as the materials can be recycled and reused. Nature2Bond’s bio-adhesive matches the performance of current exterior-grade adhesives and meets the stringent standards required for plywood and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL). This method leverages forest industry side streams, making it both sustainable and efficient. At the current stage of the project, industrial cooperation is crucial to identify specific applications and tailor the bio-glues for practical use.
