Mariska van Dalen
Developer of GPP tools, Platform for Sustainable Purchasing
Mariska van Dalen holds a degree in Business Economics and Environmental Technology. She began her career as a policy maker at the Ministry of Environment, focusing on environmental cost modelling. She later joined Triodos Bank, where she developed a research department and benchmark studies for ethical investment funds. For over 18 years, Mariska worked as a sustainability consultant with engineering firm Tebodin, advising supply chains across Northwestern Europe on creating a positive environmental impact. In 2013, she started working with the Province of Zeeland on Biobased Procurement initiatives, including developing a biobased product database. This work inspired her to launch her own company, Platform for Sustainable Purchasing, with the Province as a launching customer. Her company develops open-source tools that provide practical insights into procurement’s sustainability impact, helping buyers and suppliers take meaningful, measurable action. Mariska believes procurement is a powerful lever for change – “Money can change the world, if we make sustainable procurement the new normal!”
