Forestry Speed Dating: 3rd Series

This series was made possible with the support of our Bioregions members: Basque Country, Catalonia, and North Rhine-Westphalia

Generalitat de Catalunya - Departament d'Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural
Ministerirum Für Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen

In this third series, Forestry Speed Dating (FSD) puts innovators in contact with potential partners and end-users to speed up innovation and create new partnerships to upscale solutions focused on forest carbon monetisation.

Carbon markets and innovation

Both carbon markets and innovation can be seen as ways to address climate change – carbon markets by providing economic incentives to reduce emissions and innovation by developing new technologies that are less harmful to the environment.

Unlocking forest carbon markets with innovative solutions

Join us at the Unlocking forest carbon markets – Event 2 of the FSD 3rd Series on 19 October from 10:00 to 11:30 CEST for a unique networking experience where you can learn, connect, and seize new opportunities with three start-ups working with carbon credits and offsetting.

Unlocking forest carbon markets – Event 2 of the FSD 3rd Series Presentations

The second event of the FSD 3rd Series will feature CarbonStack, CO2Offset, and Ecobase: three companies at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in the carbon market. Our solution providers are seeking collaborators, customers, funding, and pilot testers to help them develop their innovative solutions.

CarbonStack: A blockchain-powered platform for forest carbon offset investment

CarbonStack is a company that creates forest reforestation initiatives to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and offers businesses sustainable investment opportunities in climate protection projects in different regions. They employ scientific modelling, remote sensing, and climate modelling to determine the carbon capture potential of each project, issue carbon credits, and provide a blockchain platform for contributors to visualize and monitor their investments. The company has received grants and seed investments to support its mission.

CO2Offset: Software as a Service (SaaS) solution to calculate the carbon dioxide sequestered in forests

CO2OFFSET is a start-up that connects companies that want to offset their carbon emissions with forest owners. The solution measures the carbon stored in the forests; it offers various services such as automated carbon credit sales, AI-managed credit wallets, machine learning algorithms, standardised blockchain-based credits and transparent contracts. Lands registered with CO2OFFSET also receive free forest management consultation.

Technologies for wood modification

Circular design of wooden building materials

Infuture Wood

The project’s work on “Design of timber building for deconstruction and reuse” focuses on the primary design of buildings and ways to facilitate deconstruction. The project has developed the first design version for the deconstruction and adaptability indicator system.

Modcons Project

The project aims to develop solutions for building with stackable, scalable, adaptable and reusable wood using CLT Panels made with Irish Sitka Spruce.
