CircuLignum: Changing the economy in small steps
CircuLignum is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting circular economy principles in wood processing. The organisation includes students, professors, and staff from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (TH OWL) in Germany. The initiative aims to encourage sustainable practices in the use of wood and wood-based materials, facilitating the transition from a linear to a circular economy. Through innovation, education, and collaboration, CircuLignum seeks to enhance the sustainability of wood use by leveraging expertise in industrial engineering, digitalisation, and wood technology. The organisation is focused on creating an online portal that allows individuals to obtain production residues from the furniture supply industry, such as chipboard and fibreboard, for non-commercial use and private projects in exchange for small donations. These materials are sourced from regional partners affiliated with industrial partners in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. This initiative aligns with the principles of circularity and involves developing the platform as an innovative service in the wood sector.
