Bioeconomy Innovation Day 2025: Innovation Factsheets
Introduction
Across Europe, key economic sectors such as construction, cosmetics and manufacturing face increasing pressure to move away from fossil-based materials and adopt renewable, circular and bio-based alternatives. This biologisation of industry is essential for reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency and strengthening regional resilience. Forest and agro-industrial biomass can play a central role in enabling this shift, particularly when combined with bioeconomy principles.
Regions are uniquely positioned to lead this transition. They host the local resources, innovation actors, and industrial ecosystems needed to turn research into practical solutions. However, significant gaps remain between scientific developments and market uptake. Addressing these requires stronger cross-sectoral collaboration, entrepreneurial support and investment.
The Bioeconomy Innovation Day 2025 aimed to accelerate this transition by showcasing cutting-edge bio-based innovations developed by start-ups and emerging companies. Embedded within the AgroBioTech Forum, the event connected innovators with investors and other key actors in sectors such as construction, manufacturing and cosmetics. This factsheet booklet presents the participating start-ups and their bio-based innovations, offering a snapshot of the technologies and materials they are bringing to the bioeconomy.
